Abstract

A visible light positioning system based on the optical camera communication is introduced, in which the ID data is transmitted by a circular light emitting diode (LED) and captured using common smartphone camera. We propose a planes intersection-line scheme based on the geometric features of LED projection to improve the positioning accuracy, whether the receiver is horizontal or tilted. The experimental results show that the proposed positioning scheme achieves high positioning accuracy with 3D average positioning errors of 5.58 and 5.44 cm for the heights of 1.45 and 1.75 m respectively, when the two tilted angles ranges of the receiver are ±45° and ±40°.
