Abstract

Composites are increasingly preferred in industrial, medical, and sporting applications due to their exceptional mechanical, electrical, thermal, and physical properties, as well as their low weight and investment costs, particularly in medical, electronics, aerospace, and automotive sectors. Impact damage to composite materials is a significant design issue, necessitating a thorough understanding of how these materials break down and fail under impact loads to ensure reliable and cost-effective design. This paper uses both experimental and numerical methods to present an in-depth review of the impact properties of composite materials.
