Abstract
Prostate cancer is a major public health problem, having caused more than 375,000 deaths worldwide in 2020.1 One of the main tools available to lessen this burden is prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening. Large, randomized trials have shown that PSA screening significantly reduces the risk of death from prostate cancer.2 However, PSA screening also incurs substantial harms, most importantly overdiagnosis — the diagnosis of disease that would not have been diagnosed without screening — and the complications of associated treatment.3 One approach to realizing the benefit of PSA screening while curtailing overdiagnosis is to administer a triage test in patients with . . .
