Abstract
Solar energy technologies are rapidly developing as they can overcome the drastic demand for energy. It can be a prominent part of India’s plan to add new capacity, increase energy security, and mitigate various environmental issues the country faces. However, the development of policies is necessary to make India the leader in the global arena. This paper includes a comprehensive study of India’s solar PV incentive policies and various constraints associated with generating electricity from solar energy. A brief overview of the present scenario of the Indian PV market, including policy measures taken for financial support, policy challenges and ways to overcome these challenges, is given. Further implications of the recent pandemic COVID-19 on the solar industry are also discussed.
