Systemic lupus erythematosus: rarer in men than women but more severe
Rhys Thomas, Ali Jawad
Abstract
Although systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is rarer in men than women, it is more severe. The clinical presentation of SLE is variable and there are sex differences. Given the relative rarity of SLE in men, clinicians should have a low threshold for investigation to avoid delayed diagnosis.
