Abstract

Coffee is the most popular plant in hilly regions of southern India. Organic coffee is grown & handled in proper and good agro ecosystem while not taking help of the artificial chemicals. As these are grown in slope regions in the hills by adapting organic farming techniques not only protects the environment but also helps in reducing the contamination in surrounding water bodies that are present in the hilly tracts. Many pests effect the growing condition of the crops. Xylotrechus Quadripes also known as Coffee White Stem Borer is a pest that accounts up to 70 % of yield loss in the coffee plantation in India. In cultivation the stem of the affected plants are timely removed before the maturation of the fruits. This technique is called Stem Breaking or Stem Cutting. The main aim of the project is to build a robot which removes stems of defected plants autonomously and efficiently. The objective is not only just a robot that classifies & identifies some of the leaf diseases in cotton plants but also must remove the defected plants. The provided solution must be economically good as well as the performance should be on par with that of people. The main challenge in stem cutting refers to recognizing the correct stem among the `Sea of Green' & remove that efficiently.
