Abstract
A procedure is proposed for determining the quality of the heterostructure of a serial high-power laser diode with a wide contact. The procedure is based on the current dependence of the number of radiation channels at the initial stage of operation. It is shown that the decomposition of radiation into separate non-phased channels of generation is associated with a change in the length of the coherence of radiation.
