Mathematical model and tooth contact analysis of convexo-concave helical bevel Novikov gear mesh
Michał Batsch
Abstract
This paper presents a mathematical model of convexo-concave helical bevel Novikov gear mesh. The usefulness of the designed mathematical model for tooth contact analysis was demonstrated. Moreover, a number of simulations were carried out aiming at evaluation of the influence of gear position errors as well as gear parameters on contact pattern and transmission error. Obtained results were compared with a conventional spiral bevel gear pair generated by duplex helical method. For the example provided, the Novikov one was shown to have greater instantaneous contact area and therefore reduced contact stress value.
