Abstract
Technological revolution and advancement have resulted into requirement of efficient and compact thermal management systems mainly in the field of electronics applications. Recently, the mono and hybrid nanofluids have gained great attention by the researchers as thermo-fluidics due to their high potential to satisfy the current heat transfer requirements. This study starts with a brief discussion about the heat pipe and its working along with the nanofluids and their preparation methods. Later a critical review is presented of the available literatures of last five years focused on utilization of mono and hybrid nanofluids in the heat pipes of various kinds across different applications in terms of its operating parameters and performance characteristics. Following it, different possible heat transfer mechanisms in nano-suspension filled heat pipes are identified and correlated and the paper finally concludes with the key findings of research area and future research objectives.
