A Review of Data Analysis Methodology

Abstract
In this review paper the KDD-Knowledge Discovery in Databases, its process, data mining, the mining techniques and topics associated with data mining have been discussed. Data mining has been increasingly popular in the information industry as well as society at large in recent years due to the massive amount of publicly available data and the pressing need to turn it into meaningful information and knowledge. To keep up with the ever-increasing data quantities, creative approaches and technologies are rquired to transform processed data into actionable information and knowledge. In order to better understand user behavior, improve service, and boost income potential, several data mining methodologies are needed in information service providing, such as data warehousing and Internet-based services. Data mining approaches will be compared from the standpoint of a database researcher to suit this need. These methods of data mining are categorized and contrasted in the paper.
