Abstract

Generating renewable energy sources, rather than relying on world’s finite natural resources, becoming now increasingly crucial as world agenda focuses on climate issues. System’s high-dimensionality, along with nonlinear cross-correlations between various floating wind turbine mechanical parts, subjected to environmental wind and wave-induced loads, are not always easily handled by traditional risk assessment approaches, dealing with complex environmental energy systems. Empirical bending moments of drivetrain, have been produced using SIMPACK (Multibody Simulation Method), based on in situ wind loads. The aim of this study was to benchmark novel lifetime assessment approach for green energy systems.
