Abstract
• BN-AC containing nitrogen functional group was successfully prepared with pig blood meal as raw material and phosphoric acid as activator. • There are nitrogen-containing functional groups such as pyrrole nitrogen, pyridine nitrogen and graphite nitrogen on the surface of BN-AC. These nitrogen-containing functional groups will provide more adsorption sites. Thus, the adsorption efficiency is significantly increased. • New activated carbon prepared from waste biomass can be applied in the field of organic pollutant adsorption. It not only realized the resource utilization of waste pig blood, expanded the raw material selection range of activated carbon, but also made a certain contribution to the current environmental protection field.
