Abstract

The Velostat (also known as Linqstat) material can be a cheap option for resistive sensor and could be applied in a wide range of tactile sensors, but it is characterized by inferior properties, low stability, and repeatability for accurate measurement of physical quantities. The tactile sensors based on Velostat and with interdigital polymer electrode on the flexible foil interconnected into a $3\times 3$ matrix is evaluated in our work. The two models for transmission characteristics of this sensor are created based on the supposed viscoelastic behaviour of Velostat. Both models are verified and evaluated based on the measured results for increased step load. The models can improve sensing characteristics and partially compensate for the unfavourable properties of Velostat.
