Abstract

Two novel 2D oxychalcogenides, AEGe 2 O 4 Se (AE = Sr and Ba), were designed using a partial substitution strategy which exhibits the coexistence of a wide band gap ( E g &gt; 3.1 eV) and a large birefringence (Δ n &gt; 0.2).
