Abstract
• Rapid acceleration of electric vehicle (EV) deployment is key to mitigating climate change • Larger reductions in GHG emissions require renewable-powered EVs, which also increase health benefits • EV adoption in urban areas leads to large health benefits from reduced air pollution • Benefits of EVs exhibit substantial spatial heterogeneity, and location-specific studies are important to inform policy • EVs shift the supply chain, and life cycle assessment is useful to estimate their environmental impacts
