Abstract
Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is an uncommon neuroendocrine tumor that originates from the parafollicular C cells in the thyroid. Unlike the more common papillary carcinoma, MTC tends to progress more aggressively and is prone to metastasis that is often unresponsive to chemotherapy.
