Abstract

Highlights A method of spindle modulation is proposed to improve the quality of the machined surface. A 2-DOF compliant mechanism for spindle modulation is designed, optimized and fabricated. The effects of process parameters on the platform performance and vibration angle are investigated. The feasibility of the spindle modulation method is validated under various process conditions.
