Plant Leaf Disease Classification Using Grid Search Based SVM

Abstract

Agriculture plays an important role in defining the GDP of the country and is an important part of the economy. One of the major problems faced by this sector today is plant disease which is a major threat to global food security and leads to excess use of chemicals and pesticides having an adverse effect on eco-system. Early detection and identification of these diseases can be beneficial both for agricultural productivity and environment. In this paper we propose a computationally effective method to classify plant leaves as healthy or unhealthy and detection of plant leaf diseases if found unhealthy. Our method for classification is based on Support Vector Machine and its optimization through Grid Search technique.
