Abstract

Current perspectives on applying functionalized carbon nanotubes (ƒ-CNTs) in nanomedicine and bioengineering are diversely projected onto designing safe, effective, controllable, and targeted strategies. ƒ-CNT-based formulations are intended to transport therapeutics to specific tissues, eliminate drugs' adverse effects, promote their bioavailability, or repair damaged tissues. They are also implemented in the detection, diagnostic, and monitoring devices. CNTs can reinforce the structure of composite implants and be incorporated into the configuration of healing materials. CNTs’ applications benefit from their diverse, extraordinary physicochemical, mechanical, electrochemical, and electrochemiluminescence properties. This article covers recent developments in designing ƒ-CNT-based nanomaterials applicable to pharmaceutical nanoscience and bioengineering.
