Solvent-mediated outer-sphere CO<sub>2</sub> electro-reduction mechanism over the Ag111 surface

Abstract

In addition to the commonly accepted inner-sphere mechanism for e − transfer, we show that an outer-sphere electron transfer from the cathode to CO 2 is operable at high overpotentials.
