Abstract

There are many natural disasters and some of the accidents happening around us daily in our day-to-day lives. In major cases, most of the people who have lost their lives in those disasters or accidents will be recognized either by their family members or the database present. There are some conditions, where the people suffered an accident might have lost the structure of their face or they might have lost their lives with major injuries in their face by which neither the family members nor the data present in the database are unable to identify the person, who has lost their life. Then, it becomes difficult to identify the person. This proposed method makes out another method for identifying a person in such conditions. This proposed method gets a dental X-ray panoramic image from a particular person. This dental X-ray panoramic image will undergo a series of image processing techniques. Apart from these, there should be some significant parts of the X-ray image should remain constant or that are less invariant over time. The obtained images from the dental biometric technique are of poor quality, which will be very difficult to identify. Hence, the image processing techniques like image enhancement have to be performed as the key process for the identification. Moreover, various techniques like image segmentation and the features of the particular tooth are extracted and identification is being performed based on the matching of these feature vectors of Post Mortem (PM) images with those of Ante Mortem (AM) images. And later on, some image processing techniques such as thresholding, segmentation, and dental code extraction methods are following the pre-processing techniques help in an accurate identification of the person with the matching of the special features with that of the features present in the database.
