Abstract
The first thorium-containing cluster fullerenes, ThC 2 @C s (6)–C 82 and ThC 2 @C 2 (5)–C 82 , were synthesized and characterized. ThC 2 clusters in both C 82 cages feature a novel bonding structure with thorium metal and CC forming an isosceles triangular configuration.
