Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused disruption in health systems all over the world. A considerable number of patients with COVID-19 need mechanical ventilation. It is therefore anticipated that there will be a surge in the number of patients requiring respiratory support and there may be a shortfall in the number of devices available.
