Soil Compaction
I. Håkansson, W.B. Voorhees
Abstract
Human-induced soil compaction has increased dramatically during recent decades, the most important source being wheel traffic by off-road vehicles. In mechanized agriculture, subsoil compaction by vehicles with high axle load is one of the major long-term threats to soil productivity. Several aspects of machinery-induced soil compaction have recently been extensively reviewed (Soane and van Ouwerkerk, 1994).
