Abstract

Although virtual synchronous generator (VSG) can deal the problem of the lack of inertia and damping in new energy grid-connected power generation system, the link between inertia and damping hasn't been established in the current control technique. Aiming at this problem, a coordinated adaptive control method for the moment of inertia <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$J$</tex> and the damping coefficient <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{D}$</tex> of VSG is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the basic structure of VSG is introduced and the influences of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{J}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{D}$</tex> on the system are analyzed. Then, the selection rules of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{J}$</tex> are obtained according to the analysis of the power angle curve and the function of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{D}$</tex> associated with <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{J}$</tex> is determined under the condition of considering the damping ratio of system. Finally, simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
