A regioselective synthetic protocol of the precursor 6-aryl-8,9-dihydrobenzo[ c ]phenanthridine-10(7 H )one (4) of 6-arylbenzo[ c ]phenanthridine-10-ol derivatives, with a colorimetric chemosensing study of 4s, 4u, 4x and 4z.
