Abstract
Abstract The perspective of application of colloid silica hydrogels as a platform for the development of novel soft formulations and cosmetic compositions for the topical drug delivery has been shown. Using the example of hydrogel composites of a disulfide antioxidant (lipoic acid) with silica, it was shown that the silica hydrogels are capable of release of the drug in a controlled manner according to the zero order kinetics for two days, contributing to a proportional increase in the antioxidant effect. The hydrogels were found to be nanosized, and their density and the rate of release of the antioxidant depended on the acid concentration used in the preparation of the hydrogels and the amount of the drug in the hydrogel composites.
