Abstract

Regular general health checks are an established and important approach in China and are part of of the Government's policy on health literacy.1 In 2020, there were 431 million health checks, equivalent to two-thirds of urban residents older than 15 years having a health check in that year.2 In addition to self-funded examinations, many employers in China provide health checks as employee benefits. These checks can take place at public hospitals or private facilities, many of which are parts of national chains with numerous outlets.
