Abstract

A new type of sleeve monopole antenna with a choke structure for broadband applications is proposed in this letter. The antenna consists of a choke structure and a single-sleeve structure, which effectively broadens its impedance bandwidth. Meanwhile, the top-loading technique is applied to reduce the size. The proposed structure is designed, analyzed, and optimized. Parameters study is carried out for its working mechanism. The fabricated antenna is measured, and the measured results have good agreement with the simulated ones. The antenna shows the omnidirectional radiation with a broad impedance bandwidth ranging from 0.24 to 0.95 GHz. The proposed antenna has a potential application in wireless communication.
