Abstract
Chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus is a disease of multifactorial etiopathogenesis, related to genetic and environmental factors, and exposure to UVA and UVB rays, which culminate in the development of autoantibodies and antigen-antibody complexes, developing a relevant chronic inflammatory process. For definitive diagnosis and prognosis, histopathological analysis is fundamental. Treatment is based on restriction of solar radiation associated with the use of immunosuppressive agents. This work consisted of reporting on a case of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus in a mixed breed dog, presenting crusted lesions and erythema in the nasal planum region. Histopathological examination revealed lymphoplasmocytic interstitial dermatitis with degeneration of the basal layer and foci of keratinocyte apoptosis. The patient underwent treatment with prednisolone 2 mg/kg, every 12 hours for 14 days, vitamin E 400 mg daily for 60 days, and use of topical dexamethasone ointment (1%) for 14 days. After treatment, complete remission of clinical signs was observed.
