Abstract
This work presents an automation platform development aiming at Smart House, Smart Offices, and Smart Lab applications. The platform comprises hardware control modules, a mobile application, a database, and an MQTT broker server. The hardware modules allow for automating the air conditioning setup, internal lighting, open or closed curtains, and door access control. The mobile application addresses the commands, which are sent to the hardware modules through the broker server. The platform integrates different control functions to turn conventional environments into smart. It exploits a non-invasive approach to Internet-connect electronic and non-electronic devices, providing a low-cost and easy implementation compared to market products.
