Abstract

IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is one of the most common forms of primary glomerulonephritis worldwide, especially in Asia. The diagnosis of IgAN is pathologically defined by IgA being the dominant Ig deposited in the glomerular mesangium.1 Clinically, IgAN presents with varying degrees of hematuria and proteinuria. Pitcher et al. reported that the risk of progression has been severely underestimated. Approximately 50% of patients with high-risk IgAN develop ESKD within 5.9 years, and 80% within 20 years.
