Abstract
• Data from GPS transmitters are key in detecting potential poisoning of birds of prey • Proper reading of GPS data and rapid on-site verification is important for detecting poisoning cases and gathering evidence. • The widespread use of poison baits is a major reason for declining vulture populations. • Poisoned birds of prey are often found dead kilometers away from the poison bait.
