Abstract

Cobalt hydroxide has a high capacitance, implying that it could be used in supercapacitor electrodes. The electrodeposition technique was used to prepare the cobalt hydroxide sustainable electrode. The soluble Co(NO3)2 of 0.5M solution is an excellent electrolyte for preparing electrochemical cells. In this case, the working electrode is a stainless steel (SS) substrate. The regulated power supply is used in the experimental setup of two electrodes for electrodeposition to apply fixed potential.Furthermore, XRD and FESEM techniques were used to investigate the physical and chemical properties of the cobalt hydroxide deposited thin film. The electrochemical performances of the Co(OH)2 electrode were studied using CV and GCD in 0.1 M KOH electrolyte. The capacitive nature of the cobalt hydroxide electrode was observed and specific capacitances (400 Fg -1 to 1250 Fg -1 ) at scan rates (10 mVs -1 to 80 mVs -1 ) were obtained. The specific energy densities (50 Whkg -1 to 156.25 Whkg -1 ) and specific power densities (1.66 Wkg -1 to 5.20 Wkg -1 ) were measured.
