Abstract
Bitcoin's introduction of blockchain technology inspired a rush of research on its potential beyond the field of finance. Healthcare is one business that stands to benefit greatly from blockchain. Patients get unparalleled control over their healthcare journey by being able to securely manage health data, access medical records, grant data permissions, and exchange information with any healthcare provider worldwide. The deployment of a comprehensive blockchain-based data-sharing infrastructure allows the healthcare system to respond efficiently to public health disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic. By allowing direct patient data access, healthcare providers can make more informed decisions and respond to epidemics more quickly. The discipline of health informatics, which includes both scholars and practitioners, faces the problem of keeping up with the rapid growth of this young yet promising field. In addition to outlining health-related blockchain features, providing solutions across various applications, this chapter identifies difficulties and potential for utilising blockchain technology in healthcare. Moreover, this chapter examines the notable blockchain and AI-powered telemedicine and remote monitoring of patient projects. In doing so, our research builds upon and supplements of already-existing blockchain.
