Abstract

This work aims to find a solution to a problem involving generalized thermoelastic interaction in functionally graded materials when heated by a laser using a timed pulse. Functionally graded materials (FGM) are materials having spatially variable material characteristics. The governing formulations of a generalized thermoelastic theory with one relaxation time are established. The domain of the Laplace transforms is used to express these equations. The eigenvalues techniques yields the analytical solution in the transform domain. Laplace transform inversion is accomplished numerically. The findings are graphically shown to demonstrate the impacts of non-homogeneity, laser pulse length, and laser intensity on temperature, displacement, and stress.
