Abstract
An incredible amount of money is poured into the field of healthcare every year in the hopes of enhancing results. The healthcare industry is beset by a number of difficulties that lead to failure in avoiding preventable fatalities and subpar outcomes.Lives are tragically lost every year due to a variety of factors, including medical team tiredness, inaccurate patient information registration, imprecise medical imaging, and unequal access to care.Generative AI has immensely influenced various fields, such as education, marketing, art and music, and especially healthcare.AI technologies need a large amount of data to be trained on for various tasks such as disease detection, organ segmentation, planning treatment, and predicting disease growth speed. However, these data cannot be obtained easily for reasons such as disease rarity, clinic regulations, and costly data generation processes. In this case, GenAI utilizes the acquired data to generate new data. The generated data can then be augmented to the dataset to enhance the usage of deep learning and machine learning models. In addition, since the data generated do not expose any patient information and are "artificially created," patient privacy can be maintained effectively.Furthermore, generative AI can benefit the patient through various approaches. For instance, it can enhance the image qualities negatively affected by radiation reduction, preventing patients from needing to repeat the image-taking process. Also, the generation of one type of image from another more expensive one can help patients save funds. Many tools have been introduced that engage patients more in their treatment process by clarifying and simplifying professional healthcare treatments in a common, understandable language.Generative AI facilitates the administrative process, letting the doctor focus more on the treatment process. It even goes further by helping medical professionals with diagnosis and decision-making, suggesting possible treatment plans according to the patient symptoms. The chapter "Generative AI in Medical Imaging" explores emerging generative artificial intelligence in medical imaging, a potent way of revolutionizing medical imaging practices.Capable of synthesizing, translating, segmenting, and enhancing images, GenAI holds great promise for accelerating and enhancing many tasks within the field. One major utilization of GenAI in medical imaging is
