Magnesium is an essential nutrient involved in many physiological activities, and it has been implicated in the pathogenesis of numerous age-related diseases containing dementia. There is accumulating evidence that dementia is associated with low magnesium levels, and that dietary magnesium intake is related to better cognitive function.
