Abstract

Nowadays, Phyllostachys bamboo is considered as a new building material with broad application prospects due to its green natural properties and excellent physical and mechanical properties. However, there is still no systematic research on the properties of Phyllostachys bamboo. For this reason, this paper carried out a systematic experimental study on the physical and mechanical properties of Phyllostachys bamboo and analyzed the damage morphology, process and knot performance of bamboo under longitudinal tensile and transverse tensile conditions. The following tensile properties of Phyllostachys bamboos were obtained: the average longitudinal tensile strength at the standard moisture content was 144.81 MPa, the tensile elastic modulus was 16.57 GPa, and the transverse tensile strength was 4.66 MPa.
