Abstract

In this study, a synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) was performed using Wattakaka volubilis leaf extract as a reducing and capping agent. The plant leaf extract contains various secondary metabolites, other nutritional and medicinal products. The prepared ZnONPs were characterized using Ultra Violet-visible Spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) coupled with Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The anti-bacterial study was done by the well diffusion method. The synthesized ZnONPs were spherical in shape, ranging from 100 to 200 nm. The FTIR bands were sharp with strong absorption peaks at 414.70 cm−1, showing the Zn group's presence. The zinc oxide nanoparticles anti-bacterial effects were tested in gram-positive Staphyllococcus epidermidis (MTTC 9040) and gram-negative Enterobacter aeurogens (MTCC 8100). ZnONPs showed excellent anti hyperglycemic potential in zebrafish adults in the present work. The zinc oxide nanoparticles have been effectively developed for antimicrobial in diabetic-based wound healing applications in biomedical fields. The findings of the current study have provided several interesting new avenues for future research exploration.
