Abstract

Bis (2,6-Diaminopyridinium) single crystal hydrogen phthalate nitrate monohydrate (APPN) has been successfully cultivated via the growth method of slow evaporation solution. A single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis has confirmed the lattice parameters of the cultivated APPN crystal (XRD). UV, optical restriction, refractive index and birefringence measurements were used to determine the optical performance of the APPN. By Vickers micro hardness measurements, the mechanical strength of the grown APPN crystal has been determined. Effective nonlinearity has also been measured in the second and third orders.
