Abstract

Atomistic calculations reveal the steps controlling the early stages of graphene growth on alumina, including the activation of CH 4 and the formation of the reactive CH 2 * intermediate that couple to form linear C n H 2 n * ( n = 2–6) and cyclic C 6 species.
