Abstract

A mononuclear copper( ii ) complex [Cu(H 2 L)](NO 3 ) 2 with an N 4 -donor redox-active ligand is found to be an efficient homogeneous catalyst for electrochemical water oxidation with the assistance of ligand oxidation.
