Abstract
To the Editor, We report of an 11-month-old boy presenting with elevated temperature (38C), tachypnea and expiratory stridor at a local hospital in Bellinzona, Switzerland, at the beginning of the Corona pandemic in Europe (March 10, 2020). His previous medical history was unremarkable with the exception of four episodes of lower respiratory tract infections (one episode was due to RSV-bronchiolitis). He required intubation due to impending hypoxemic and hypercapnic respiratory failure and was immediately transferred to our tertiary PICU at the University of Basel.
