Abstract

In this paper, a new high-frequency method for controlling boost converter in Boundary Conduction Mode (BCM) is proposed. By changing the switching frequency in a specified range, the intended method maintains a boost converter in BCM despite input voltage and load changes. This high-frequency method is implemented in an analog form which is more cost-effective in comparison with digital implementation. In addition, GaN switches are employed instead of silicon ones, which have lower losses at high frequencies. Simulation and experimental results obtained from applying the proposed method on a bi-directional boost converter is indicative of the efficiency of the proposed strategy.
