Abstract
A comprehensive investigation was conducted using a series of coatings composed of montmorillonite (MMT), ammonium polyphosphate (APP), and/or chitosan (CH), which were applied onto polyurethane (PU) foam. The study aimed to explore their individual and combined impacts on the flame retardancy and compressive properties of the coated PU foam.Notably, MMT emerged as a crucial component in preserving the foam's structure under fire conditions. The foam coated with MMT-APP exhibited the best flame retardancy, showcasing the synergistic effects of the fillers. This research provides valuable insights into the individual contributions of each coating component to enhance the overall performance of coated PU foam.
