Abstract
The batteries can be charged by plug-in method or Wireless Power Transmission (WPT). In plug-in method charging time and losses are very high. On the other side continuous improvement and progress of technology, WPT has overcome these challenges and provide better charging solution for batteries used in EVs. WPT structure mainly consist of four blocks AC-DC converter, DC-AC high frequency inverter, compensation circuit connected to WPT coils, and AC-DC converter connected to battery of EV. In this paper, to improve the efficiency of WPT, focus on design of compensation circuit is given. The component design of this compensation circuit is crucial task as this can improve the power transfer capability from sending side to receiving side. To develop effective compensation circuit, component design is required first. The component design of compensation circuit gives strategy to solve the problem and gives the detailed understanding of system modelled. This paper gives design procedure and analysis of SS and SP compensation topologies for 500W WPT system. The component design of compensation topologies with their comparison and best is suggested depending on application.
