Abstract
Future potentials are shown in nanotechnology. It gives numerous promising opportunities for improving biocomposite products. Not only nanocomposites should be considered, but also improvements by coating nanomaterials for decreasing water uptake, reducing biodegradation and volatile organic compounds, and even flame retardancy. The application of nanocrystalline cellulose is being investigated for a variety of usage as it is stronger compared to steel and even stiffer compared to aluminum. Moreover, nanocrystalline cellulosic material-reinforced composites will deliver advanced performance, value, durability, and service-life at a fully sustainable technology.
