Abstract

Biofuels have the potential to replace conventional fuels due to their impact on the environment. However, to maximize product yield and ease of processing, it is necessary to select the most effective catalyst. Solid acid catalyst is one of the most researched because of its advantages compared to other catalysts. This catalyst has a high free fatty acid content and can help esterification and transesterification reactions in biodiesel production simultaneously without saponification reactions and produce higher biodiesel yields. This study can be used as a recommendation for researchers to find out the research trend of solid acid catalysts for biodiesel and biofuels in the future for the advancement of science. From 2005 to 2023 using the Scopus database, a total of 819 documents have been published with an increasing and consistent graph in 2018–2022 with the two most productive countries being China and India. Analysis using VOSviewer with bibliometric analysis method shows the most discussed keywords on this topic are Biofuel, Catalyst, and Solid Acid Catalyst.
