Abstract
• Understanding citizens' NbS preferences support planning and tailored advocacy. • Co-creating NbS helps in planning more context specific and acceptable NbS. • NbS are accepted by citizens with high or uncertain risk perception or low formal education. • There is little knowledge of NbS and their benefits among citizens. • NbS advocacy and co-creation are key levers for driving citizens acceptance of NbS.
